Who is this for?
The Air Hogs Star Trek Enterprise Flying Drone is suitable for kids and adults over the age of 10 years old.
It is one of the hottest toys for Christmas 2016 for Star Trek fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to be able to purchase a drone version of the USS enterprise and now it has finally happened. The design is nicely detailed and carefully thought out to be able to produce a quality drone design, yet maintain much of the detail of the USS enterprise.
It features 10 different light and sound effects or functions. And that includes the trademark warp factor and phaser sounds. It really wouldn’t be Star Trek without those.
Because it’s based on a large ship, it has a longer design compared to a usual quad copter, while implementing the same principles. What is pretty cool about the design of the USS enterprise drone is that they have cleverly hidden the usually quite visible spinning propeller is inside the main source section of the Enterprise.
The design on first glance or touch may be considered flimsy and breakable. However you would be mistaken, because the design of the frame is made with memory foam, which makes it very durable. A number of users agree having crashed their drone a number of times whether deliberately, or accidentally, and their drone was undamaged.
Well if you have not yet used a drone or quad copter before there may be quite a bit of a learning curve. It can take a while to initially learn and get used to operating and flying a drone.
For such users, they may want to start out by flying the drone within a safe enclosed space with little to no obstacles.
Once they are used to doing that, then they may wish to start flying it outside. Because Star Trek is so huge, and because this is the first ever flying drone version of the USS enterprise, speculation is rife that this will become a collectors item once the model has been retired or updated by air hogs.
So you might want to keep your drone in good condition, or even buy a spare and hang onto it.
Does it provide value for money?
Well it costs a bit more than usual quad copter’s that also come with built-in cameras. But of course the main feature and attraction here is that the drone is modeled after the USS enterprise ship. It is the first Star Trek USS enterprise drone and as such it may attain collectors item at some point in the future.
And when not in use it also looks pretty cool as an ornamental piece. For fans, the price is not really going to be an issue at all.
Where can the Star Trek USS enterprise drone be purchased?
The manufacturer’s spin master have their hair hogs range in all good toy shop, RC stores, and collectors stores. Plus of course major online retailers like Amazon where you can also read reviews from buyers that have already bought this drone.
So if you are a big Star Trek fan, this is certainly one for the Trekkie collection. It’s also of interest to people on the lookout for collectable items for reasons explained earlier.
Air hogs have got it spot on with the design of their USS enterprise drone. It’s a fantastic real-life miniature interpretation of the famous starship from the alternate universe USS enterprise version of the ship from the original series that started it all.
With the Air Hogs Star Trek Enterprise Flying Drone, it’s time to fly your very own USS Enterprise boldly where no man (or woman) has flown it before! Was that cheesy? Okay I’ll get my coat.
